We’re Back.
Well, it’s been a while.
Rediscovering Wyoming first kicked off over two decades ago with a simple idea: tell the stories that live under the big sky. Share the things that make this state tick—the people, the places, the wind-scoured history, the oddities, the wildlife, the way light hits a fenceline just before sunset.
From the start, it wasn’t about clicks or algorithms. It was about curiosity and genuine Wyoming pride.
The project ran strong for over ten years. And then, in 2013, it went quiet. Life did what life does—shifted. Work, family, health, time, and, oh yeah, the website crash… catastrophic failure.
But here’s the thing: Wyoming never stopped being worth talking about. And we never really stopped talking or wanting to tell its stories.
So yeah. We’re back.
What Is Rediscovering Wyoming?
If you’re new here, welcome. If you’ve been around since the early days, welcome home.
This isn’t a tourism site (though you’ll probably want to visit a few places we write about). It’s not a history textbook (though you’ll find some history that matters). And it’s not some glitzy influencer blog trying to sell you a hat and a lifestyle.
It’s just us—two friends, Paul Delap and Michael Rissler—getting back to what we love: digging into the soul of this stubborn, beautiful state.
We’ll photograph and write about:
- Hidden corners and forgotten towns
- Wyoming’s wild creatures and wild spaces
- Real folks living real lives
- Local history, legends, and the occasional tall tale
- Backroads, barns, badlands, and the beauty between
Why Now?
Because there’s never been a better time to slow down and pay attention. The world’s noisier than ever. But Wyoming still makes room for silence, for story, for reflection. It always has.
We’re not interested in putting a shine on things that shouldn’t be polished. This state has its flaws, its grit, and its ghosts—but it’s also got a kind of raw honesty that you don’t find in many places anymore. That’s what we’re here to capture.
How You Can Join In
This has never been just about our tales; if you’ve got a story, and we know you do, about your town, your family, your ranch, your favorite trail—send it our way. If you’ve got photos that show Wyoming the way it feels, not just how it looks, let’s talk. This place belongs to all of us who care enough to see it.
In the coming weeks, you’ll start seeing new posts go up. Some short, some long. Some thoughtful, some funny. All rooted in a love for this place.
So keep an eye out. Follow along. Share if you’re inclined.
And if you ever find yourself out on some stretch of road where there’s nothing but sky, sage, and wind—think of us. That’s where this all started.
And that’s where we’ll be.
